Guest Speaker Bio:

Jeremy Lott has lived in Utah his whole life, except for a two-year stint in the Philippines, and one-year in Denver. He is married to Kellee and they have three children together—Natalee (25), Josh (24), and Darby (19). Natalee is married and Jeremy has a grandson named Brigham, who is 1-year-old.

Jeremy went to BYU on a wrestling scholarship and received his Bachelor’s in Horticulture. He owned a landscape company for about 15 years and, like most contractors, was not very good with accounting. In 2008, no one was doing high-end residential design/build for landscaping and he ended up bankrupt. This was a horrible experience for Jeremy, but he is very grateful that we have that option in our country.

A few months later, Jeremy went into his accountant to have his taxes filed. When they got on the topic of his bankruptcy, his accountant told him he had seen it coming for many years now. Furious, Jeremy decided to figure out this accounting thing and help other business owners not have to go through the same struggles he did.

Jeremy studied accounting through Universal Accounting, and started a bookkeeping company. After four more years of school at the U of U, taking the upper level accounting courses, and completing his MBA, Jeremy worked for four years as an auditor while still doing bookkeeping on the side.

Today, Jeremy is loving what he does and looks forward to putting more money in his clients’ pockets and making business worth it for them again!
